Gents,

I need a cleaner for porcelain tile and a sealer for a granite vanity top.

I looked at the Stonetech products but didn't see a cleaner that was listed for use on porcelain.

Any recommendations for the cleaner and the sealer?

Thanks,

Wray

If you're looking for a daily-use cleaner, Wray, you'd wanna look at StoneTech Professional's Revitalizer Stone & Tile Cleaner & Protector, or All Purpose Stone & Tile Cleaner.

The Revitalizer leaves a very slight protective coating and contains an antimicrobial to help prevent the growth of flora and fauna on the surfaces.

The All Purpose just cleans and costs less.

Both are pH neutral and require no rinsing.

I'm gonna move you over to the Cleaning forum where you might get other comments on these or other product brands.

Hi Wray :)

What kind of granite do you have? Have you tested to see if it even needs sealer? :shades:

What CX said about the neutral pH cleaners. One note: The concentrated solution needs to be mixed to recommended ratios to maintain it's rinseless properties.

How old is the porcelain floor? It may be ready for a deep cleaning with a high alkaline cleaner.

Has your grout and/or tile been sealed?

John,

The granite is called "Golden Sunset" if that means anything, and is from China. It was purchased with a factory applied sealer.

How should sealed granite react to water? Does the water bead up as on a waxed car? Water seems to soak in to this granite but does leave a stain when dry.

The porcelain shower walls and bath room floor are about six months old. Grout has been sealed with three applications of a Stonetech product. Looking for a cleaner to remove soap scum from tile and grout.

Thanks,
Wray

Hi Wray :)

I'm not familiar with Golden Sunset granite. I'm confused. Did you mean to say the fabricator sealed the stone or the quarry? Usually the quarry will apply a resin such as Tenax. When the slabs are resined, they do not need to be sealed.

If your fabricator sealed your tops, and they are still darkening with water, then not enough sealer has been applied. Some stones are very porous and need several applications.

To remove the soap scum from your tile & grout, Stone Tech's KlenzAll is the answer.

John,

The stone was supposedly sealed at the quarry, but since it absorbs water it needs to be properly sealed.

I'll order the Klenzall. Can you recommend a sealer?

Thanks,

Wray

Hi Wray :)

You can use either ST Heavy Duty Stone Sealer or Bulletproof. Test a small area and check for compatability with the "alleged" sealer.

Wray:

When you send in your order for the Klenzal, add a note to David Taylor to send you a sample bottle (little bitty things) of the two sealers JohnK suggested if he has some. Tell him I told you it was OK. :)
