I have heard good and bad about Red Guard. Everyone loves kerdi and noble seal but why is Red Guard not satisfactory is applied correctly?

Hi Russ, not sure about the red guard. I use something similiar called pro-red. If there's a problem using it I guess I'm in trouble. I do think the next steamer I do will be kerdi.

Red Guard is not a solid membrane, like NobleCS or PVC. It is a liquid which dries fairly thin. I prefer solid sheet membranes, or at the minimum, Laticrete 9235 which has a liquid AND a fiberglass matting which makes the application thicker and less permeable, in my opinion.

RedGard is made by our sponsor, Custom Building Products. It does meet the requirements for shower pan liners and for steam showers. :)

I checked with the C-Cure rep today and pro-red is rated for steam showers.
