I grouted the tile in my 1/2 bath, hall & laundry room. I chose a darker brown grout to resist looking dirty. I grouted about 2 1/2 weeks ago, I have done a vinegar/water wash with nylon brush. The problem is there are dark splotches.
What do I do next?
When I do get to seal, what is the best sealer for high traffic area?
Some day I will get this grout thing down right!

there is no reason to use vinegar on a new floor. you grout it, clean it and then seal it (I do not seal groutlines, but that is just me :) ).
you have to take care of the dark spots, before you seal the floor, the spots will not go way after sealing.

Hi Val :)
What grout brand and color did you use?
Can you post a photo?
How large an area?
What type of tile?
Do you have hard water?
These are all variables. So is how wet you mixed it, how long you let it dry, how much water you used to clean it, the humidity, and the temperature.
A seasoned professional will have more consistent better results, but is not immune to encountering a problem with a specific product from time to time. I know I have my favorites.

HI all,
1. I used Laticrete Tri-Poly Fortified Sanded Grout 1500 Series in Parchment color #1561 (I had never used this brand before and was told it was almost fool-proof, guess I'm a bigger fool than I thought!)
2. The bath area is 5'8" x 4' 2"
The hall way is 5'9" x 3' 51/2 "
The laundry room is 7'10" x 5'6"
3. I used presealed porceline tile 12 x 12 set on a diagonal
4. The water here is not extremely hard or soft, It is about average but more toward the hard side
5. We mixed the entire bag at once b/c there were three of us doing the grout. It was a very small area and did not take long to grout. I waited until the grout was set to fingernail test before wiping down. I did not use a lot of water in wipe down just damp sponge and cloth.
I have noticed in some areas as the cure time has been longer it has improved and in some areas I see no difference at all. I am trying to be patient, but I really miss my laundry room and 1/2 bath. I love doing the tile work and laying it, but seems I can't get the grout right. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Val :bang:
