Just because John appears to be interested in history. I live in Norwich CT, home of two rather famous historical personalities.
1) Samuel Huntington, signer of the Declaration of Independence and President of the Continental Gongress when the Articles of Confederation were ratified adopting the name, "United States". As the standing President of Congress, Samuel became the first President of the United States (George, you know him, was actually the 13th President of the United States). Efforts are being made to have Samuel given more emphasis in historical references.
2) Benedict Arnold, Washington's greatest Revolutionary War General and eventual traitor. Apparently, Benedict married a known British supporter (Tory, for those of you that may think history started when Sam, Davy and friends held off those banditos for so long :) ) and she must have twisted his thinking  .
Trivia, but perhaps interesting...

Hi Dick,

Glad you showed up. Getting a little, uh, vacant in here. There are a few other signers of the Declaration who have become nearly unknown in modern portrayals of our history, and more should probably be said about them all. I wouldn't go so far as to proclaim GW the 13th president, though. I think that's carrying things a bit too far. :)

I've done a little reading on Benedict A., and I agree his military prowess was probably unmatched in the Revolution. Why he went south? Who knows?

My wife, Patti, was born in Norwalk -- graduated from Bethel High, Class of '67. :)

Check your diary John. You must have made a contemporary record about Benedict Arnold. To have not done so would be most out of character :D
