Travertine is so dense that it will likely not absorb any anyway. As far as the best overall, I will tell you IMHO that I like MB-6 from MB Stone (mbstone.com). Now again, I do not think that you need any and of course I am biased, because I do sell that product up in Canada. BUT, I have tried others that I will not mention that I feel did not perform as well. I have not used AquaMix's Enrich and Seal, but collegues have told me that they like it and it is great. I will stress one more time "most travertines will not accept any penetrating products" which include sealers and color enhancers.

Hi Timmy,
Tell us about the travertine.
Is it honed, brushed, tumbled, or polished?
While the travertine itself has portions that are quite dense, there are less dense portions and fill to contend with.
If the material is polished, Tom is correct. If not then an impregnating sealer and enhancing sealer will work.

thank for the advice. it is honed and unfilled, you know when I cleaned the travertine with water the color change dramatically, and the guy who sold me the stone told me if using color enhancer it will look pretty much like that.

He told you correctly. Now, unfilled travertine should be filled in a bath or kitchen setting to avoid contaminents from settling within the material.
Once done, you can enhance or use an impregnating sealer. Not both though.

The guy at the store was right. Steven was correct as well about the honed vs the polished.

Darn. Thought I had this figured out. I was going to use "a solvent based impregnating enhancer" on my tumbled backsplash, which I thought was also a sealer. Do I enhance, then seal with something else?
Thanks,
pam

I recommend SCI's cleaning and sealing products. There are many companies out there that specialize in stone care products.

Hi Pam :)
You had it right the first time. The enhancer also acts as a sealer.
Hi Kristy :)
Of course you do! :D

Hi All,
I was looking for a post that provides a breakdown/review of the different Stone Tech products. I'd like a product that protects both stone and grout. That looks to be the Impregnator.
I'll check the Stone Tech website too.
Thanks,
Peter
