Why are they making ceramic look like stone, natural stone finished to look like ceramic, vinyl tiles to look like slate, wood flooring to look like stone, stone to look like wood, vinyl to look like wood.and to top it all off carpet pieces that snap together.Where oh where will it end???At least I didnt buy any edge tile from lowes for any of my home jobs.Have A great day I'm off to look at granite tiles that are meant to look like a slab!!!!

It all ends with Plastic.Everything else has :D :D :D
Somebody will come in with 2 or 3 panels on a truck that interlock.they'll be made from some kind of honey combed plastic.bang, instant capped basement and floor.Welcome to the Lego dimension ;)
I'm thinking spray on floor with a knob dodad to select finish, style, color, overall look, etc. Insert some reforcements before the spray and you don;t even need wood for support.
By the why are you quoting Nancy Kerrigan?

To answer your question: because some people have more money than taste, and others have more taste than money. and some have neither.

But bbcamp is all three, or has both, one or the other,

I have to agree with the taste and money factors. I also have to admit though that I am in the process of laying down the 'slate-look' tiles. Why'd we get that tile? I dunno, it was there at Lowe's and we liked it. Dumb thing too is the box doesn't even tell you it's not real slate, I found that out later when I looked the product up online that it was a slate-look tile. Kind of false advertising if you ask me. I don't care that it's not the real thing though, I just liked the colors, texture, availability, and naturally the price! Oh no, does that make me white trash?
Yep, I delivered 54 cases of that snap together carpet stuff for some guy on the back side of a condo a couple years ago; he said it was for his basement. I wonder how it looked when it was done and how it's held up. Marble-look laminate came to mind just now too. Yikes! Paneling too-- hate the stuff!
What's the worse materials you've seen that's trying to impersonate something else? I'll bet you tile installers have 'SEEN IT ALL!'

Armstrong made a wood parquet look alike
and Tarkett made a random agate stone look alike
Ive seen a few marble agglomerates that were pretty bad also it only rates one  ;)
How about the masonite panels that are supposed to look like blue-veined marble? I think they even sell the stuff as rated for use in showers!

Only problem with that masonite stuff is you have to put it up with m- m- mastic.
