After hearing from John Bridge that two emails I forwarded him were infected with a virus, I decided to investigate my Norton Anti-Virus thingy.

Sho-nuff...."EXPIRED".

So I went on line and bought the Super Duper Updated Version of Norton 2002, I mean this thing contains cures for next months viruses (or something like that).

After they got my money they then began to take me down the happy trail of eradicating all my diseases and viruses I had been accumulating since I allowed my subscription to expire.

Repeatedly the message would pop up: yada yada yada "this may take a few minutes".

A few miuntes indeed. This all began yesterday evening and continued until I fell asleep. This morning I picked up where I left off. More downloads, more clicks, more reading, more agreeing to things I have no idea what I have agreed to.

Total consumed time downloading, updating, rectifying, reinforceing, scanning, detecting, and watching little purple bars grow across my monitor screen.......

"FIVE PLUS HOURS"

More than five hours of my life was consummed by this process. I haven't read so much "stuff" since I read the Magna Carta.

The results: 69,450 files scanned, "0" viruses detected, "0" repairs and deletions necessary.

This cost me $45 and more than five hours of my time...and for what?

FOR NOTHING JOHN BRIDGE. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

So thank you very damned much John, you can forward me a check for $45 please to cover my outlay, my time has cost you nothing, consider it a gift.

By-the-way...this includes your discount. The Norton was regularly $69 but you got a special deal this week.

...and my wife wonders why my cash flow sucks so bad.

Yeh but I told you I got a "special" deal. As usual.

My CD is in the mail they tell me. Why do I need a CD now after spending five hours downloading stuff?

Yeah, the board WAS slow right now. They seem to have it fixed.

Bud,

Norton didn't find any viruses on your computer because you sent them to me and my Norton quarantined them.

Have your people get in touch with my people who will contact flatfloor's people who will talk about a possible refund.

You're the guy who let the thing EXPIRE!.

John I had Mr. Norton take a look at the emails in question and he gave them a clean bill of health on my end.

I do know the source of these emails now and so would you if you'd check your email.

I must apologize to John Bridge.

Above I took an opportunity to launch some verbage at John mainly in an effort to get a laugh. At the time I was confident that I knew what I was talking about. As usual, I didn't.

John you were correct about the virus(s) and I stand corrected. Followup information appears elsewhere in these pages (WARNING -- VIRUS)

So....yes I will except your check for $22.50, you thereby receiving yet another discount for the cost of my new Norton.
