That means you didn't want to see it, anyhow...

Really means someone sent you an attachment in a format your 'puter doesn't recognize. I could send you a Microsoft Publisher document, but if you don't have Publisher, you're out of luck. What format is the attachment in?

Jim,

Do you have Outlook Express?

If so, you can sometimes go around you email account and open the message directly thru Outlook. It (the photo) may not be an attachment in this case and will open for you easily.

I don't understand any of this but I know I can open attachments via Outlook that I can't otherwise get to.

Or try the easy way- email the sender, tell 'em to save it as a jpg, then resend it... :D

A lot of digital cameras have propriety software that save pics in "their" format, and you have to remember to save it as a jpeg.

On a somewhat related note, I just downloaded this nice program (http://www.irfanview.com/english.htm) that does lots of things like that. Works well for quickly and easily downsizing the pics from the digital camera to a size the the recipient can print easily, among other things. (Printable pics are important for long-distance grandparents!)

Small download, lots of features, no charge, comes with install/uninstall wizard.
