I always recall the very creative gift I gave Patti several years ago. I mean, anybody can go out and buy a box of candy or a floral arrangement done by some professional. I took it upon myself to put this baby together myself, and I think it makes for a very personal statement.

I got the whole thing at Home Depot. In the garden department I got the plant. On the way out the door I grabbed a couple of the plastic flags they have that you can attach to the back of your lumber when it extends over the tailgate. I tied it up with some of their free twine. The whole thing cost me about four-ninety-five, the cost of the plant. I stuck the banana in the pic to lend it a little artistic flare.

For some reason, Patti wasn't particulary impressed, and I had to take her out to dinner to keep her from beating the shi..... out of me. :D

John,

I speak the truth. I do stuff like that for my wife too, but the kicker is she likes it when I'm frugally romantic....a lot. It shows that I actually put a plan together instead of just dumping a few bucks. Go figure. Nope, she doesn't have a sister.

A few years ago I spent a particuliarly cold winter setting stone for the union (inside). On V-day, my supervisors fiance received a big bouquet from a jilted ex-boyfriend. I heard about it at work, the gears started turning. I bought him a draft after work, was promptly given the bouquet, and went happily on my way. I got home, presented the gift with a full explanation, and the evening resulted in my now five year old daughter.

Does this mean the jokes on you guys?

M romantically packed her bags and scooted off to Dubai for some shopping therapy with her niece.
I am expecting a nice card Monday morning from the bank asking that most important question.........

We're cooking at home. Steaks and lobster, potatoes, salad, veggies and a red velvet cake from scratch!

Can't beat that. I hate crowds, and much prefer to be at home on a night like this.

Happy Valentine's Day all :)

Last Wednesday was Groundhog Day and the State of the Union Address. It was an ironic juxtaposition: one involved a meaningless ritual in which we look to a creature of little intelligence and limited capacities for prognostication,

and the other involved a groundhog.

Awesome - I'm converting this to a "what's the difference between..." joke and spreading the word! Thanks!

Oh, and Happy VD

Okay, so today I went out and spent long green on a professionally done arrangement. Bought a card that plays "Love Me Tender" when you open it. Patti thinks I'm a really cool guy now. ;)

LG, what's your problem, baby? You should know by now there is only one love in my life. I might take other good lookin' gals to lunch, but that's it. I prolly take good lookin' guys to lunch, too, but I can't tell if they're good lookin' or not. ;)

Linda,
I mean't the DIYer :D

Someone who knows the real me just gave me this.

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Sugar is sweet
And so so are you.......

However..........

The roses are wilted
The violets are dead
The Sugar bowl's empty
And so is your head.
