About a year ago we had a water softener system installed. We are using potassium salt instead of sodium salt in the system. It has reduced the water spotting on our granite counters, shower glass, etc. However, it seems to be leaving deposits (potassium??) on the marble tile in our shower. Any ideas on how to remove these deposits and restore the original finish of the marble tile? Mild stone cleaners have not been successful.

Hi dds, Welcome! :)

If you're still out there, we could use a 1st name. :shades:

What part of the country are you in?

While I was maintaining/restoring large commercial natural stone floors in the winter here in the Chicago area, we had the same type of problem. We would recommend the exterior walks to be salted with calcium or potassium chloride. While it was safe for the stone there would be the slimy deposits that were difficult to remove. Our local janitorial supply had a product (don't recall the name) that was a bucketfull of packets. This equated to one dose (packet) per bucket of water. It was a special chemical that assisted in the breakdown of the potassium salt slime.

If you need more info, PM me, and I'll see what I can come up with. :)
