Greetings from Tasmania
I have a granite table that has stain marks on it from salad oil. Could you please advise how best to remove these stains. Thanks.

Hi there, Tell us about Tasmania.

Oh yeah, :D

What is the name of the material?

Generally we use a poultice made from paper towels about 1 mm thick and 20 mm wider all around the stain.

we douse it with acetone, careful not to let it go anywhere else.

We cover it with clear plastic wrap and tape the edges down if it is not self adhering.

Wait 24 hours and remove the poultice. Do until the oil is gone.

Now you need an impregnating sealer similar to the ones sold in our online store.

Good luck.

:)

We sell a specific poultice powder made for Oil stains called OPP (Oil Poultice Powder). It is in a powder form and you mix with water to a peanut butter consistancy and put it over the stain. Cover it with a piece of plastic (poking a few holes in the plastic) and allow the poultice to dry. This can take 24-48 hours. Once dry remove the poultice. Depending upon how long the stain has been there, it may take a few times to pull it out because remember you are pulling a stain out of natural stone. You will also need to clean and seal the table after it is removed. I suggest you visit www.stonecare.com
