I get the old illegal operation when I send one. I seem to be receiving OK. Any ideas?

Do you have Outlook Express? Try this first (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q238656), and then this patch (http://216.239.33.100/search?q=cache:KKGLoKfd8mUC:support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q168/0/19.asp+outlook+express+illegal+operation&hl=en&ie=utf-8).

Thanks Cami, I'll try in the AM. I really don't want to deal with Microsoft right now. At least I can post a reply again. :)

Guess what? I just successfully sent an email

I think I invented a new software repair called Pooka-Gone :)

Somehow I don't think it's done with me yet tho.

Maybe JC will have some more technical advice than what I found...other than dumping OE, of course. (I'm a user, I confess, but just for bills and the MIL. All others go to hotmail.)

If all else fails, thump it three times on the left side, open up the tower, blow the dust out, wiggle some wires and reboot.

You'll notice that's not in the manual anywhere, but neither is a 12 gauge.

Both work, but your mileage may vary...:D

Pooka-gone. Heheheh....

That's funny Cami, I just gave John similar advice in "did you ever" I referred to it as ann exorcism.

BTW, I struggled with this problem for about 2 hours before I called for help. Ran Norton's One Button three times no luck, then all of a sudden no problem. Go figure.

Pooka's back, this is the first continuous stretch , 15 minutes, I have been on without being interrupted by some illegal activity notice. But the error notices are pinning it down to Java or Nmain. What the hell is Nmain?

I'm starting to feel like Bud. :)

I'm also beginning to wonder if the high temps have something to do with it. It's 10.30 PM EST and much cooler.

Just as an aside, you have backed up everything on your hard drive, right? Just in case...

Googles, and this link suggests (http://service4.symantec.com/SUPPORT/cleansweep.nsf/docid/1999091516301428) nmain is a Norton problem. Print it quick before you crash again...

Cami, thanks again. A light bulb came on last night after I shut down. I'm trying to run Norton and Nmain keeps popping up, now what could that possibly be? Duh!

Anyhow, I'm going to back up tonight that should be fun, never backed up onto a CD before.

BTW, I'm running Norton 2002 and that link is for 2000/2001 but the problem is exactly what they describe. We'll see.

Everything running well now. It's 80 degrees already supposed to hit 90, let's see what happens, Although I may turn on AC.
