Ok from reading that it sounds like silicone based sealers are more likely to clog pores, so it sounds like fluoro chem type sealers are better I under stood lower surface tension products protect better unfortionately I dont think any of the sealers out there list this information. Are all sealers one of these two types fluoro or silicone? Are some of them hybrids? Are there other types of impregnators also? Ive used all sorts of them and noticed some leave haze on the tile alot easier than others buy dont remember which type of sealer it was, some of the brands list basic information on the chemicals and some dont list any. I just would like to know a little more of the basics.
P.S. anyone know the story of exploding pieces of marble referenced by chemguru

Hi Rob :)

I didn't read those posts before Tim left. Maybe Karen Church or Steven Hauser may know what he was referring to.

I don't have a chemical background to answer your questions. I usually learn by asking the techs from the various manufacturers. For example, I'm a big Prosoco fan. I know they don't use flouro technology (as of yet), but they have an excellent line of sealers and impregnators. Some are water based and others are solvent based.

Hopefully, someone will come along and give you the answers you're looking for.
