What you have done in creating this site, has certainly earned you a spot in the "Tile Hall Of Fame".

The service that this site provides,is beyond compare.

I don't know if I missed any reference to your anniversary, but I was derelect in not addressing it as it happened.

Once again John, congratulations and thank you very much.

Is Sonnie bringing ribs?

I have to second what Chip/Art said.... I have seen no other forum on the web that combines such a free exchange of ideas, help to DIYer's, terrible humor, and all around good nature, with no name calling, sniping, baiting, etc. I figure that it must come from the top. Thanks, John!

"terrible humor"? So much for your part in the television series...

I think you're a bit early, Chip, but any excuse for a party will do... :D

Hi,

I only came to this forum for the first time today with a particular question, but can I just say I run another vBulletin forum (for a computer games company,) for a living, and "all around good nature, with no name calling, sniping, baiting, etc" - or rather the lack of it, even among my moderators - is the bane of my working life!! You should never take a good-natured positive forum for granted!!

So Great Job John, All the Best!

Cheers,
Alex

John rules this joint with an iron trowel wrapped in velvet...and Bud wraps his in sheepskin... :D

Ok, really- this is the the most informative and amusing forum around, although the t-shirts shrink down to almost nothing before the first washing...

Thank you all for the praise, undeserved as it may be. I will take credit for somehow managing to bring together an unbelievable group of people, people who know things and people who are "cultured." An interesting bunch, I think.

I'm honored that you all find time to be here.

John

Alex,

Where's your board?

I've always wondered about old Chip and that talk of spanking. I'm not a prude, mind you. Not a bigot either, but spanking? Sounds a little kinky, doesn't it?

Alex,

You are leagues ahead of me in the techie department. I would gratefully accept any help you could render (san remuneration, of course. ;) ).

On my way to your game site.

I bought a 55 gallon drum of whoop ass too, and if your not carefull Rob, I'll have to dump it all over ya'!!!

Cami, I saw that Mr. Bridge, registered 3/30/01, so thats where I came up with the idea that a party was in order.

Bud, I realize that there are those of you that can make those smiley faced thingys appear, and I'm impressed. What I was kind of hoping, was that just one of you would have seen fit to remind me once again, just "HOW" it is done.

But Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, Chip, I'll take pity on you...scroll up when you're posting a reply and you'll see a link above "John Bridge Forum" that sez Smilies (http://www.johnbridge.com/vbulletin/index.php?action=showsmilies)are on. The secrets of the smilie universe lie within...

John Bridge

Or, you can scroll down right now and find the forum rules. On the bottom line you'll see "smilies are on." If you can't manage it from there, there's no hope for you.

We made it to Truth Or Consequences!!!!

Now where the heck are you guys?

Haven't seen Bob Barker, although there are a few barkers around here.

Went down to Regular St. and Standard Ave., can't find you guys anywhere.

We stopped out in Kansas and saw the worlds largest ball of string, rassled a gator in L'oosyaner, enjoyed the scenic sorgum fields in Ar Kansas, took in a show in little las vegas in Missoura, Yee Haw!!!

I gotta tell ya, there is a lot to see and do here in TofC, watched em' change a tire last night down to the tire store, watched em' make fresh coffee down to the 7-11.

Where the Heck are you guys, I got a whole 6...5 pack of Milwaukees Best Light, better make that 4, LL just popped another. So you better hurry, before your beer is gone.

gee, I thought the site had been around longer than a year. Didn't time start over with the big bang, when the new board came around?

Anyway, I'm with all the rest, any good reason for a party, and yes, I'll bring the ribs. I came up with a good glaze for seafood last night, but ruined it on a bad batch of shark. Tequila-mango glaze, nummy. Shark is very iffy when you don't live on the coast.

Thanks, John, for everthing. Thanks to all who participate for creating the adventure.

At one time Mako was sneakily being substituted for Swordfish, now the damn things cost about the same.

Seems as though when one species is overfished a formerly garbage fish becomes popular.

Sonnie Layne

Yeah, or they just change the names or make up names. Damned, when my ship comes in I'm back to the coast.

Just recently saw an ad for "white roughy"... Had to ask the butcher (who knows me from 4 or 5 day/week visits). He just shrugged and said 'go figger'.

I used to catch my own shark, never was into blue water sport fishing really, just usually went for red's or flounder, sometimes get all geared up for bull reds when they were running.

A few times for money, I'd take the wanna-be's out for a run at trout. 3, 4, 5 at a time depending on how many hooks you had on the end of a piece of string. dat whaler, she be a fine woman of a boat back den.

As I said, shark is iffy even if you're on the coast. Hell, here you don't dare ask "what kind" is it? Anyway, the glaze worked out pretty decent.

Not long ago Patti got a deal on orange roughy -- 3.98 a pound (down from about 7 or 8). The limit was ten pounds, which she bought. We've have two very nice feeds. Still have a third in the freezer.

Sonnie, can we figure out a way to farm roughy up in this part of the world? I mean, do you think the suckers would make it in the Gulf?

This whole thing is "fishy", and all I can find here is catfish, deep fried.

Now where the heck are you guys in T Of C, NM?

John Bridge

Orange Roughy is a deliciously firm, flakey white meat fish from Down Under. I like to lay the fillets right on the charcoal grill. No seasoning and no adornments. Ceasar salad. Maybe a little rice.

Sounds a little like Mahi-Mahi from Hawaii (I think)

Naw, these guys while tropical never attain the size and they live primarily along shores at the edge of reefs. Much milder flavour. And they never have a dark piece of flesh.

Beautifully done as John described. Of course as you know I don't have the opportunity to grill so I bake mine with a tiny bit of onion and a teensy dash of cayenne. The fish is mild enough that you have to be careful of the spices and side dishes, but the flavour alone if fresh is everything you'd want in seafood. It is nummy, been a long time since I've seen it for $4.

But...we just had a sale on Atl. Salmon for $3. IF ya bought 15 pounds or so, hehehe.

I'm not sure if roughy would be able to do it in the north. Seems the reefs I'm familiar with in the North have a different food chain.
