I was recently browsing a real estate investor forum, and dove into the rehabber section. A guy came along asking if he could lay tile right over a vinyl floor, and a couple of other people said "Sure! I do it all the time!" :twitch: Of course, I couldn't stand for that, so I piped up with the PROPER way to prepare a floor for tile, and let the newcomer know that if he goes right over that vinyl he's likely to have an unhappy buyer come lookin' for him not too long down the road. Those other fellas came right back, saying "oh no, that's really unnecessary, just scuff up the vinyl a little and go to work!" So, helpful little meddler that I am, I came back with "OK, if you want to know the right way to lay tile, go to <link to JB Tile Forum>.

Would you believe, when I checked back the link had been DELETED! They don't allow links to any other sites on their site, even for education purposes! I guess no one cares about the RIGHT way to do it :( I thought that was a little stuffy of them, it's not like THEY are providing a professionally moderated tile forum! Humph!

I've seen that sort of thing on other forums, and that's why I've stayed here. Even the DIY forums are not so helpful because many times they give that type of advice, and I'd like to know the PROPER way to do something. I don't want to hang out with people who might know as much or as little as I do. I want to learn from the PROS :)

Thank goodness for JB forum

Todd, let me feed that ego a little bit more :D

I can honestly say that I've learned a lot from you guys, and also learned to respect the work you do. This is probably the toughest forum I've ever been on because this is not my field, and I'm very aware that I'm surrounded by people who KNOW what they're doing. I wouldn't consider buying my tiles without first asking JB and company a zillion questions. I have a lot of faith in you guys and a lot of confidence too that you would give me the best advice.

There, how is the ego feeling now? :D
