I read through some of the Threads on that Baldwin Forum Eric. Came away with the impression that fishing a river or stream where salmon are actively spawning is somewhat common place back there (MI). That true? People (not to be confused with Sportsmen) actually wade through a spawning bed?

Hey, are any of you flyfishers?

what you get is some people that walk into the river and spot the fish on beds or in gravel and site cast at them..Then what happens is that one thing leads to another and they start tring to snag it.

fly fishing for me!!

I think there are a few of us around here alygal. At least for me, that's one of the eight ways I do it. :)

Boy oh boy Eric (and I know you don't condone this): Snagging fish is one thing but setting all that aside, simply wading through an active spawning bed, disturbing the redds and destroying thousands of eggs in the process - I'm surprised anyone would actually admit to doing that on a fishing Forum. Good way to get a big fat ticket and permanent loss of fishing rights out here.

Salmon season is actually over up this way-- "salmonid" season ends sept 30th. But that's okay-- you guys know me-- I'm always different-- I'm looking forward to my last bass tournament this coming sunday. The last time I fished the water we're going to was about 4 years ago, when I saw the biggest smallmouth caught I've ever seen-- 7 pounds 4 ounces, and no, I didn't catch it. Maybe this time! :D

Waters going to get really hard up here pretty soon.
I put my boat away for the season, now i just have to hurry up and wait for hard water :)

I missd my yearly trout trip this fall due to a dang virus that was going around. Its going to be a long Winter now :(

I spent the weekend watching the big buggers race up the creek in 2 inchs of water.(hey, walking in their own beds!)
Put one back in the water that made a wrong turn...about 12 pounds. Season is over here too(except in the lake), but watching them is almost as good as catching them. :twitch:

It IS pretty neat to watch a process that's as instinctual and old as life itself. :) Kinda makes ya feel priveledged just to watch it. :)

Cancun for work? Cancun for work, you say? Orlando is for work. NY is for work. Vegas might be for work. Cancun?

We went fishing at Diamond Valley Lake last weekend... caught the biggest trout ever... for me.... 4.12 lbs... on 2 lb test.... fun, fun, fun! My hubby, daughter and son in law also caught some nice size trout... 1.9 lbs was the smallest.
