View Full Version : Name resolved!
Ok Cami you said you would help to make that logo.If your too busy though it is no problem.
I got all the legal stuff done(finally) and the name I chose (after completly exhausting all other choses and out of complete desparation I might add) is "Surfaces by Design".
I know it will seem to some as a knockoff name but most customers won't know...besides there are a more than a few other floor stores useing "surfaces" in their names.
My partner has his wife working on some ideas too but the more choses the better.
thank you
p.s. the domain name I have is called http://www.TileStoneandHardwood.com

I am glad you decided to go with a domain. You'll be happy you did.

Too busy? Ah, no....
What style did you have in mind? Any particular colors? Or just whatever.
It's a good name, JC. I assume you want tile, stone and hardwood somewhere in the logo?
Yea either somewhere in the logo or else leave it out and just list the name of the web site some how..they will figure out the rest.
I need to make business cards and flyers..stationary also if that helps.
John even when you think I aint listening I am listening..just takes awhile for the logic to sink in sometimes with me.
Got the buy&sell agreement too Jim B.

Smart man!
Free starter biz cards about 200, http://www.vistaprint.com color, nicely laid out, decent paper stock.
Suggestion, don't use a title on your personal card. That way you can be anyone you want, stock boy, designer, installer or Pres.
Them aint free it still cost 8.95 for shipping. I went all th e way thru it then I found that out.
Nah, I still have to get the phone/fax number hooked up to put those on the card first.
Nice link

JC, no preference on color, style, etc?
Surprise me, I have not had the chance to develope any mindset on this name yet.

JC,
Just a thought here....
You know, not everyone is hip to the internet and a bunch of little (lower case) letters all running together. Though the tilestoneandhardwood thing is easy for us to understand, I'm not sure the average man/woman-on-the-street will get it.
If it was me, I would spell it out on my cards in the traditional manner (Tile, Stone and Hardwood) also.
I find that the majority of my customers don't have Internet access or understand what I'm talking about when I invite them here. Not a one has ever shown up to my knowledge.
Cami,
Nice job by the way.
Well I guess the card is already done..stopped in the office today and Mike says that him,his wife and everyone in the office picked on out..oh well
Did'nt see it but I guess it has two pillers on each side and that somekind of design to it.
Anyways I guess I will only need a logo for the site and for the sign etc..
Cami nice work. I like that orange, green and yellow one..think that will look good on the web page?
I am probably going to start redoing my whole web page tonight from scratch incorporating the new names.

See what happens when you're out working, JC?
Actually, the design you're referring to would probably be the best for the 'net...bright and simple.
Bud-you've been brave enough to send people here?
Actually the name is spelled.. TileStoneandHardwood.com
with the first letter capitalized to make it somewhat easier to read. The browser will read it either way regaradless.
I can always get another domain name for SurfacesByDesign.com.......like that better? I think it would sound better myself.

JC- forgot to tell you the font on the design you liked is Californian FB, engraved with small caps.

Yes Cami.....I invite people to visit here all the time. If they don't show, it's their loss.

You know I was just kidding, Bud. I even sent the guy I'm trying to line up to mud the house here to read the thread on it...It was easier than explaining the whole idea. :D

I would try to tie your domain url to your business and keep it as short as possible. I tried surfaces.com, surfaces.org, and surfaces.net all taken. Surfaces net is a ceramic tile co in Fl. Then tried Floors.com, guess who? Mannington. Floors.net is up for sale $10,000, I think you can live without it. http://www.floorsandthings.com looks to be available.

I never even tried SurfacesbyDesign.com yet..wonder if that availiable?

Hey apparently I was finally booted from the "Secret Place" at FI the other day. Me and Stephen and Jim McClain were 86'd without explanation.
If I get run out of here, there are plenty of other boards to go to.
WHAT HAPPENED!!
I thought Jim was on a posting strike. You guys did'nt get banned from the site did you?

JC,
No one knows why. You still have access why not ask Simonson and report back. We would all like an explanation.

dead nuts = balls on perfect = aced = slickernanewbornbabiesbum
Say what, Cline? ;)
Are you guys kicked out of just the moderators forum or out of the site?
I remember Steve saying he would rather ban the "nattering something or whatever" then JR. And then Lisa and Jim boycotting w/ Lisa sending out all those botcott FI forum emails..Sent them to Dave too?
I imagine that might have something to do with it, when I did that security breach thing I got my web site taken off me..Steve funny bout things like that I think.
We did jump on him somewhat about the site...some more then others.
Nothing was said in the forum though, I will ask for you.
