Well, I've finally started to revamp my site. It's gonna be a little bit in the making, because I'm going to completely change the format. Whereas before it was just a place to show off my work, I'm going to try and make it more of an informational site this time around. I haven't yet linked this page to the rest of the site yet, but here it is-- the first one out of the gate. Thanks to Todd for proof reading it for me to keep me on the straight and narrow! :)

Bill, so you actually work???? :D
What's the caution tape for? Explain that picture please. Oh, if you have any good designs that you feel inclined to share with me, please do not hesitate to send them via my email. I'm in need of ideas for a backsplash and kitchen floor.
Thanks in advance.

The caution tape was because the homeowner supplied his own marble-- he'd bought it about 3 months before the work was done, and during that 3 months it had been moved several times, and as a result, he ended up with quite a few broken tiles that just couldn't be used. As a result he ended up running short, and VERY lucky that he was able to get some more that matched what he bought originally (at Home Depot, believe it or not!). Anyway, from the caution tape to the door is where I finished that floor the following day.
As for your backsplash and floor, I'll see what I can dig up. Send me your email address, so I can go thru my email, rather than loading those kinds of attachments thru the site here.

I HAVE turned some words into hyperlinks (including one over here!), but I think you might be right, if for no other reason, just to dress up the page.

Thanks, Todd. :) It's not so much what it'll do for me, as what it'll do for others. I'm tired of just bein a showoff (yeah..right :) ), and I'd rather the site have some kind of purpose-- you know-- use it for good, instead of evil. :D :D :D
LG-- in reference to Randy's remarks, he's actually right. I'm even thinking about the possibility of breaking it down into a couple of pages. Once I got started writing it, I couldn't stop. I even commented to my wife that maybe I ought to just be done with it and write a book, but then I thought of John, and figured oh well-- it's already been done. :D

I agree, break it up and scatter the pics in where they tie in with the text.

Bill,
I'm really glad you've finally gone to work on this. I believe every tile contractor ought to have a good web site. In fact, I believe that everyone in any type of business at all needs a site. :)
I'm going to agree that the page is too long. I think you could divide it up into smaller topics and run links to them. Also, the articles you reference could be carried as links at the bottom of your pages. You should do an essay on tiling over plywood subfloors, for example, on another page. You can make it a little more in depth that way without driving all the people nuts who don't want to tile over plywood. Same with tiling over CBUs, membranes, mud beds and concrete. That way everybody gets the info he wants without having to wade through all the other stuff.
One other thing of a technical nature. I don't make people scroll back and forth horizontally. Make everthing fit between the margins, even your pictures. Have two pics on a line instead of three.
And as to writing a book, maybe you should. You've certainly got the knowledge, and there will always be room for another good tile book. Hell, there are only three decent books out there now, and I wrote two of them. (Michael Byrne wrote the other). :D
Oh, and thanks for linking to my site. I'll do the same for you when you get it up and running. :)
