We pullied out the wall around bath/shower today.
Found lots of mouse poop and a mouse nest.
Also found wadded up newspaper dated 1971, which confirmed my suspicion that the last 'update' was done in the early 70's. The clue? That fake marble formica put on the wall to match the vanity.
So tell us the treasures you've found behind walls when doing tile jobs!

Found an old stock certificate once.it was wrapped up in wax paper.
It was an uncancelled certificate from Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing(3M).
I would have loved to have kept it but didnt feel it was mine to keep.I gave it to the homeowner.
He sent me 100 bucks in the mail 6 months later LOL.
Other than that, old magazines are common, coins from previous setters once in a while(ussually pennies)
The occassional tool left sitting behind the wall.
I ussually stick a nice new shiny quarter behind the walls on a residential job taped to one of my cards.;)

We found food wrappers, soda cans and cigarette butts in our walls. Of course, I was picking those up all over the house when it was being built too. Geez. Haven't those guys ever heard of a trash can? :whip:

Have any of you guys encountered an old razor blade slot? it was just a little square thing attaached to the dry wall between studs and you simply put your used blades in the wall and hopefully you move before you fill it.

Yeah, about 20 years ago. Retiling a bath for an elderly doctor and behind tile around the lavoratory was a stack of old razor blades filling the stud cavity about 3 or 4 inches high. These folks had lived in this house for a long time.

There was a slot built into the back of old timey medicine cabinets for the blades.
I once found a Norelco down there. :D

When I smashed out the bathtub in my old house, I found a ...um... welll... toy.. of the sexual variety... ok fine, it was a vibrator. That was not... a welcome find. Why can't I run across the 3M stock certificates? Sheesh.

My house had that razor thingy. I had no idea what it was. I took the wall out and all these razors fell out. Yucky, Yucky, Yucky!
