View Full Version : Boggles The Mind!
I'm not a religious person, and I realize there are things out there that can't be explained....but I'm not the one to even try to explain what happened to me today.
I was driving home from work, when I came to an intersection. The light up ahead was green, I was in the straight through lane...to my left was a school bus, which was slowing down to make the left turn . Now, I can't see anything left because of the school bus beside me, but the light is green so it's just the usual thing you do when you are driving along. The school bus was a length ahead of me and had stopped with the signal on to turn left..in fact it was about a 1/4 of the way into the intersection. As I came up beside the bus, I had this weird feeling run through my back and shoulders..and at the same time I swear I heard a female voice say "STOP-STOP-STOP"! I don't know why, but I slammed on the brakes. AT the very moment I came up along side the bus, 2 kids on skateboards came flying in front of me in the middle of the street.! If I had not stepped on the brakes at the moment that I did, those kids would be dead now. No doubt about it, I would never have stopped and run over them completely. Those kids had a guardian angel today, and she just happened to be hitching a ride with me. Very weird.

Had the same thing happen to me, I stopped at a GREEN light for no good reason and at that moment a truck went flying right threw the red light!
This was about ten years ago and I still think about it.
NO voices though, Try Zyprexa

Had a similar experience while driving but no voices, just the realisation that 'someone' else was guiding me. Everytime I go by that intersection it comes to mind. A car swerved in front of me from the other lane without warning and he was speeding so he couldn't stop. I tried my best to get out of his way but found myself with oncoming traffic coming head on and as I tried to avoid colliding with them, swerving my car to the point that it rocked from side to side, two cars behind me almost had me sandwiched. I still don't understand how I wasn't involved in some major collision that day.

Whatever you guys are on send some here. I am sick and tired of seeing people I care about seriously damaged by headbangers behind the wheels of vehicles.

Very strange. believe it or not a similar thing happened to me.I was on my way up north on I75, about 5.30 in the morning, just woke up and started on my way,in South Georgia. The road was being worked on so there was orange barrels and a wide red clay strip between the north and south lanes. I noticed a black car about 1/2 a mile ahead coming south on the other side of the clay. For no good reason i started slowing down,on the highway, with other cars going both ways. There was nothing wrong at the time,i just had a feeling, well, i had actually put on the brakes slightly in the middle of 75 and kept my eye on the black car, when it suddenly started swerving back and forth, and then veered directly into the clay median throwing clay everywhere and heading for me,while i had come to a virtual stop in the road, the car came into my lane ,flipped over twice and rested upright across my lane, not ten feet in front of me. I got out and there were four people in the car,the driver had fallen asleep, and one was still holding a baby.I was by myself, and to this day i can't believe it. There was no reason for me to start slowing down on the highway and watching that car, but i did. No voices that i can remember. :)

I'm guided on a constant basis by the same kind of thing. I've never actually heard a voice, but it's more of a sudden thought that I get that I should or shouldn't do something, and very shortly afterward I see what the consequences would have been if I continued doing (or not doing) whatever it was that I was involved with at the time. Several times it's been in traffic, but it also happens to me all the time on the job, as well as off.
And then people tell me there's no God. :)

This has all the makings of a discussion about ESP. Is there such a thing, do our brains have undeveloped abilities that can be developed?

Just watched a show about police psychics, had my doubts, but if you can impress cynical hardened cops, maybe there's something to it. :)

Most civilizations seem to recognize it may exist. Trouble is so much of it is surrounded by superstition and/or phonies that it's hard to sort out. The Irish have a word to describe someone who seems to have the ability (or ESP) they are called fey. I think Duke University has ongoing experiments, and the Russians and our own beloved CIA have fooled around with it.
Me? I neither believe nor disbelieve although I'm inclined to believe there is something to it.

Well, everyone will believe what they want to, and I'm no different, but I believe this particular kind of thing has nothing to do with ESP, and everything to do with guardian angels being around us. I know alot of you will scoff at this, and that's okay. Like I said, everyone will believe what they want to believe.
Had a similar incident as Bri's once while barrelling thru Bed/Sty on Atlantic Pkwy. I was on the right of a semi as I was approaching Flatbush Ave. There was a guy hoofing it across the intersection against the light. I couldn't see him and he couldn't see me. He had the truck beat, but not me.
When we made eye contact it was too late, BAM. I didn't kill the poor guy but busted him up pretty bad.
I dunno, maybe his angel was taking a break or the planets weren't lined up just right.

I was wondering about those who did not 'heed' the little voice, intuition or whatever that made them slow down, change their minds etc. Where were their angels? Why is it that some of us 'feel' or 'sense' things before they happen, while others don't?
My grandmother was from Portugal and a really interesting woman. She used to just look into someone's eyes or hold their hands and be able to tell them certain things or even sense things that were going to befall them. However, many people thought she was a bit nuts (including my mother). I was quite young when she passed away but I remember her telling us that something was going to happen in the family, something that would bring pain and blood. She saw that it was a male member, so she warned my dad and my two male cousins, but nobody paid much attention. A week later my father was brutally attacked and almost killed by three armed men. How do you explain that? She had a vision about two weeks before...a sort of premonition of something awful going to happen, and then she saw a vision of a tall, white male being attacked by several dark strangers. She was convinced that the male was part of our family, and she was right.

Bill, maybe the guardian angels are part of the ESP system?
Lady G there is some evidence that ability runs in families.
Otis, guardian angels have more sense than to be in Bedford Stuy. Fools rush in where angels fear to tread. ;)

Well, I'm with Bill on this one. I certainly don't have ESP. I have had a couple of close calls with death, but it wasn't my time. Just the other night a semi turned in front of a group of cars. Most people will slow down because he's bigger than they are. Well, the care behind him decided to go also (not very bright)! By then most of the traffic doing 50 slowed to about 15. Now a brain dead person behind the wheel decides "What the heck, they made it", and tries to make his left. At that time, I'm looking at a car in my lane head on. Because everyone had already started slowing for the semi, I was able to manuever into the oncoming left turn lane to avoid the collision.
Drivers ed teaches us to stay in our lane, to give the oncoming driver a chance to recover. He didn't recover, but I'm glad I did! :)

I think some people are just a little more aware of their surroundings and have a healthy respect for the things that can hurt you. Some people dont have common sence, just cause your going thru a green light doesnt mean someone else isnt blowing a red. I always try to watch for the unexpected. Ive run into a few people that are "accident prone" but theres alot more to it than just bad luck they are never looking out, accidents waiting to happen. almost all accidents have a series of mistakes leading up to them
I always try to watch for the unexpected.

Folks, I must tell you! The bible says that there is one true God,and also that he is long suffering and merciful not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. ll Peter 3.9 The bible also says in Hebrews 9.27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement. You see God holds your life in his hands and has been merciful to let you live another day that you might give your heart to him and trust him to forgive your sins and save your eternal soul. Many people have many opinioins but I give you the word of God. Friend don't leave this life before you've made preparation to stand before God!!! It's strange to me that people spend hours on these forums trying to help others and better themselves also but yet all this work we do is temporal and our soul is eternal but no one spends much time considering what will become of their soul or how to better themselves in doing and achieving the will of God.
St. John 3.16 Your friend Chris :)

All joking aside, I have flown off a bridge in a car (25 ft high) and landed 1 foot away from a boulder the size of a house. Destroyed the car and nothing happened to me. Flipped over a Bronco(SUV) towing a 28 foot enclosed trailer (jacknife) ripped the fiber glass top off the back of the Bronco and was riding on it like a carpet ride down I-95 at 2 o'clock in the morning and almost had a BMW run me over. Nothing happened to me or any of the guys with me. Etc..
I've had the same little inner voice guide me through some disasterous ordeals both on the road and in my life. Call it what you will but I have always known that something has guided me in my life.
These last few years of my life have been the result of trying to always go with the flow, never fighting where this thing has been trying to take me. Just believe and don't question. Im glad this is a common occurence. It means that something wants us around.
This would be an informationless sight without all of you. Pretty boring too.
P.S. Cerveza for me too.

Ramon, I couldn't agree more!! It's uncanny till you realise where it's coming from. :)
I went through a intersection the other day and something told me to hit my brakes. There was a semi on my left and I couldn't see that way through the intersection. I hit my brakes slowing down from about 50 to about 20. Nothing happened but I damn near got rear ended. Guess it was a practice run. :)
I have avoided many accidents just by paying close attention. Here in Texas and many other parts I'am sure, when you get out of the big city we have alot of highways that run 60-70 mph with alot of trafic lights. Alot of these are heavily traveled roads and they can really pile them up when someone does something stupid. One morning I was on a four lane highway, two each direction, there was a trafic light ahead about 1/4 mile and most of the cars were in the left lane to make a left turn at the light ahead. I was in the right lane as I noticed the trafic was backed up in the left lane ahead. My lane was clear but this moron next to me driving the same speed (about 60) as me wasn't paying attention. As we got closer and closer I kept waiting for him to slow down. I felt like I needed to do something so I swerved to the right shoulder and he swerved with me at the same exact time, just like we were tied together. He was coming my way ready or not. He just missed the car ahead by inches. If he would have hit me I probably would have been beyond the shoulder in the grass for a fun ride.
