I am at wits end. I have a stone-like tile in my kitchen which is starting to have a funny odor. I have cleaned it with all kinds of cleaner and the problem still exist. The weird thing is that only four tiles are involved, the ones directly in front of a stainless steel refrig. Could the odor be because of the motor from the refrig. blowing out onto the tile causing this smell. Perhaps the problem stems from some filter needing to be changed in the refrig. Thanks

pourous tiles will soak up water and possibly mildew if under wet conditions. although your kitchen shouldn't be an area subject to this problem it is possible that your drain pan in the bottom of your refrig has overflowed and soaked into your tiles. that seems like a long shot to me and even unlikely.I would take the front toe kick cover off of the refrig and check the drain pan thats probablly where the odor is coming from and has nothing to do with your stone tile. that would be a happy ending wouldn't it :yipee;I hope it's that simple for you. good luck

Hi Karen, Welcome! :)
The weird thing is that only four tiles are involved, the ones directly in front of a stainless steel refrig.
Are these ceramic tiles, or stone? Is there any indication of dampness in the grout? Can you pull out the fridge, without damageing the tiles? Does the fridge have a water dispensor in the door?
As Chris noted, it could be the fridge.
