grout residue on polished marble

:bang: Need Help!! Recently installed polished marble in bathroom on floor and walls. Followed directions and still have a haze on marble. I can't find anything to use "that will not" take off the polish. Went back to stone supplier and they did not have any answers for me. He gave me a sample product, that took off polish on sample tile. Can anybody help?

Try using a razor blade and gently scrape the haze off. Kinda like scraping paint off of window glass.

I have done that and I still have residue. Someone mentioned that I might have stained the marble. Any other suggestions?

Well' Johnny let's go back,what kind of stone and what kind of grout,and what did you wipe it with? Maybe i can help,but i think you took off the polish. :)

Well ,I purchased a tan polished marble, The stone supplier advised me to use a non-sanded grout. Followed directions on the box and wiped down with water after grouting removing excess grout, When completed and let dry i noticed some grout residue on tile ,I used a razor to remove this residue but I still have cloudy haze in spots on tile. I purchased Tilelab marble and stone cleaner non acidic . I just finshed testing product on one tile , using this product and a razor removed some of the residue but still have patches is there an easier way. Most poducts to remove grout haze recommend not to apply to polished marble .

Did the grout have latex in it? Latex can ruin marble...In my experience. We sell only latex free grout for marble.

Did you seal the marble before grouting?

The combination of not sealing and using latex could be the cause.

Well just finished reading grout box from top to bottom. There is no mention about latex in grout, though it does say do not use latex additive in grout mix when using marble.the product i used is AccuColor a portland cement product may be this could help coming up with any ideas that may be out here.

Hi Johnny, Welcome! :)

It appears that you may have etched the marble surface. If that is the case the surface will need to be repolished. This is usually a job for a pro. Have you tried acetone and a soft cloth on a spot yet?

If the acetone doesn't get anything off,and if it's not too bad, and mostly spots,i'd go to the Dia Glo website,or look locally, and order some buffing powder for your particular stone,and repolish it before you make it any worse. You'll probably be able to get it looking pretty nice for forty bucks. :) We stone guys don't have a lot of these problems cause we marble grout and don't smear it all over the stone, and concentrate mainly on getting the grout in the joints,letting it set before rubbing it down with a doodlebug.On honed stone i use a piece of plastic,like the kind you get with a Bondo kit, and slap it into the joint making sure there are no voids,and leaving the grout piled on top the joint,this keeps it from sinking. I let it set overnight,then sand it off with a soft block sander like they use for painting and drywall.You get perfect height on your joint and you don't use a lot of water. :)

Thanks for your advice , I will try the acetone see if that works. I have been trying all recommendations on sample tiles so as not to damage marble installed. This is a great site sure glad i found it. I will write back to update on progress thanks again.
