I am a housekeeper (independant) and I have a new client who had both of his bathrooms done in cultured marble tiles. Shower walls, floors and baseboards. Who ever installed all of this did a very messy job. They did a horrible job masking before painting and got paint all over the tiles. We are talking pools of paint in some places on the floors and entire brush strokes on the shower walls. Also my client says the cultured marble had some kind of sealer put on it. At his request I removed some of the paint with a razor blade but did not feel confident about it so I stopped and told him I was going to get more info before proceding. To make matters worse something has created long drip like stains that actually feel rough and kind of concaved. I hate to put down anyones work but these guys sucked. They should be ashamed of the bad job and big mess they left behind. To sum it up, I'm lost. How can I remove all this excess paint without damaging his tiles? What could have caused the streaked drip apperance? Is there a sealer for cultured marble thats put on after installation? I would really like to clean this up nicely for him, but I don't have a clue what to do. When I tried the razor blade, a this layer of transparent material came off too. Could this be the so called sealer thats making the entire surface feel rough and gritty? Help please. I have to go back at 3:00 pm tomorrow and try to finish. Thanks to all of you in advance.

Hi Unregistered Housekeeper, Welcome! :)

Please register, and give us a 1st name.

A picture would help. You mentioned "cultured marble", which is a poured plastic. I have never seen "cultured marble tiles".

We need to find out if this is plastic or stone. ;)

Sorry, no picture available right now. However, I will take my digital camera with me this afternoon and get a few shots of the tiles, close ups and regular pics. The tiles do not have that cool feeling to them that I have previously felt when touching real marble. A shelf was created with one of the tiles. The under side of the shelf feels kind of chalky, unfinished. Does that help at all in determination of the material?

Hi Michelle, Welcome. :)

I'm with John. I've never heard of cultured marble tiles. It might be an agglomerate which is real stone in a man-made tile. They might be terrazzo tiles, also. :)
