Teflon, now non stick coatings I have a bit of knowledge on.
Many many years ago(25 or so) I worked for a company that made Pots and Pans (famous for developing Bundt cake pans)and they did other aluminum fabrication.I worked as a utility man in thier coatings department and rebuilt spray guns pressure pots etc.I did many other things including forklift operator, some welding andwas in charge of inventory control for coatings like Teflon,Silverstone etc.
Teflon is (or at least was) a 2 part system of coating.Silverstone is a 3 part system.
Now i could go into all the warnings about the stuff and what it does to you as it flakes off the pans and gets in your food but I wont.I leave it up to you to look this up and decide if its worth it to you.
Suffice it to say that I have and use a variety of Well seasoned Cast Iron Cookware.Wagnerware and Griswold make the best and they can be had at flea markets and antique shops around the country.Properly used and taken care of they work as well as any non stick high tech pan and last forever.
I have 2 Dutch Ovens(6 and 8 Qt) a Griddle(11x17) and Frypans(6,8,10,10,12,14" )About 250.00 worth of cast iron.About 6-700.00 worth of Quality High Tech cookware.Ive had my cast Iron 15 years and most of it is at least 50 years old.I will pass it down to my grandkids one day.
The stuff works better than any high tec non stick pan ive ever tried and ive tried most at 1 time or another.:)

Yeah well, I'll take my chance with the Teflon in my food compared to a whack on the head with a Teflon fry pan vs a cast iron skillet. :D

Todd, how do you clean a seasoned cast iron pot, pan, or skillet without it losing its seasoning.

How do you season cast iron cookware?

If you are having problems just wiping it out with a paper towel, it is either
A)-Improperly seasoned

B)A POS cast iron pan.If its a Wagner or a Griswold keep it and reseason it with Bear grease or Lard and bake it overnight at 325.If it is any other brand and you want to try to save it,you could try doing the above twice.

A Properly seasoned pan will clean with a paper towel period.after wiping out coat with a little oil(i said a little oil, just a little)Pans should be hung not stacked or nested.
If by chance a little something does stick, a little hot water and a nylon scrubbie used lightly should work after letting it soak for about 30 minutes.Once again, wipe dry oil and hang.

Cast iron improves everytime you use it.NEVER SCRUB with anything other than nylon and then very lightly only.

Jim.Hang them where she cant reach them :D

WD 40????
I havent used the stuff since Justice Brothers came out with JB 80
Its twice as good :)

Its actually probobly more like 5 times as good but i'm no scientist.I just know it takes less, lasts longer and breaks stuck bolts free much faster.
I do not however use it on my pans ;)

Yes provided that the ambient speed is "dead slow".

Now.........if Pringles are so good that once opened they cannot be put down, why do they have a re-sealable top? The company obviously doesn't believe its own hype.
