i think acid etched my tile

I had a little bit of grout haze on tile i laid for my father in law. i have had success before using phosphoric acid cleaner from home depot , so i told my father in law to try that. What does he do he bought some concrete etching formula from walmart that is phosphoric acid based. instead trying a test he poured it on the all the tile now there is a white film all over the tile and grout. I have tried using the phosphoric acid cleaner from home depot and only film off the grout is coming off. The tile always looks good when it is wet but when it dries it has the white film again. Is there anything i can do to correct this? Thanks

If the tiles are marble tiles, then you can have them easily restored by a bona fide stone restoration contractor. If they are ceramic tiles instead, then they are ... done! :( :cry:
