I recently paid a whole lot to have my entire house tiled with glazed porcelain tile (very tired of replacing disgusting carpet every few years). I never before heard the term grout haze, but it seems I now have a lot of the pesky stuff. I am old and have rheumatoid arthritis, so I think this could be more than I can do with out really regretting it. I have been told that the installers should have removed the haze as part of the job. Is this right? If so, I sure know who I will never recommend!! Are there people who do this sort of thing? The tile people have just blown me off. I do wish I would have found this site a couple of months ago! You never know what questions to ask until it's after the fact, it seems. I'm ready for the next time though! Thanks.

Dear Harborwatch:
I'm sorry to hear about your disadventure. Yes, of course: the tile setter is supposed to remove every residue of grout film as part of the job.
I would suggest that you get hold of some "Jack-of-all-trades" to finish the job for you. :)
Ciao and good luck,
