View Full Version : Bathtub surround

I recently removed and replaced a bathtub and removed all the tile from its surround. The tiles were attached with thinset over 1" mud walls over brick. I had to chisel away about 1/2" at the bottom to remove the lip of the tub from underneath. Is there an easy way to extend the mud walls down now to cover the lip of the new tub? I really don't want to use backerboard since the previously tiled area of the mudwalls already extends out from the wall about 1/2". Thanks.

You don't really have to mud in that last 1/2 you can add thinset to extend the mud slightly and put some on the back of your tile to mesh with it, and it'll be fine,as long as the tile isn't tiny, like mosaic. :)
