View Full Version : Shower floor sealing

Great site, fellas!

I am finishing a fully tiled shower. The tile used on the shower floor is unfilled travertine 4x4. I need to grout the joints and the unfilled sites of the tile. Do I then seal the tile and grout or not? I saw a previous statement from John Bridge that sealing a shower floor is bad (note, the comment was made in a thread from 2001-perhaps things have changed). How many coats of the sealer (impregnating) should I use? Any one sealer better than the others for this application?

Welcome aboard, Paco. :)

Grout over the tiles and fill the holes too.

Aquamix Sealer's Choice 15 Gold (Home Depot) is a good choice for the shower, including the floor. The sealer is moisture transmissible, so it breathes. :)

Thanks, John! I'll be using Aquamix enrich and seal. Look forward to seeing the results.
