I need to help my neighbor retile his small bathroom. There are already tiles on the floor, 1"x1". What's the easiest way to remove the old tile? Thanks.

Hi and welcome. If you can get your hands on a air chisel that works pretty good or an electric jack hammer. Small one of course. Goggles, gloves, hearing protection, and have fun with it.:D

Is it best to replace the old subfloor, or can the old cement be removed? I've done a few tile jobs in the past but never a redo job. Am I going to be sorry for offering my help? Thanks for the welcome.

Hopefully your friend will return the favor someday. If you find the floor under stays in relatively good shape you should be ok. If not you'll have to use new underlayment, cbu.

Welcome aboard. Give us a first name, please. :)

I would strongly consider leaving the old tiles in place and tiling over them.
