I'm installing a new counter with backsplash and have a couple of questsions. The counter tile is granite with an integral bullnose. The installation will require cut tiles to create a 45 degree outside corner. This will mean that I have cut tiles in the field. The tiles typically have a small chamfer on the edge. My cut tiles won't have that chamfer. How do I get it back and how do I minimize the little chips on the corner?
My other question is related to the backsplash. The backsplash will have a long accent strip two tiles up from the counter. The counter is out of level by a quarter inch in 12 feet. Do I install the accent level and cut the tile at the counter or do I just start at the counter and go up out of level?

You need a sander for the bevel,or a stone and patience, and if you can't level th counter definitely level the accent and cut to counter.

Hi Zeke, Welcome. :)

I think a quarter-inch in twelve feet is not worth messing with. I would set the two rows of tiles and set the accent. Finish out the wall, and make the cuts up under the upper cabinets. :)

What kind of sander do I need for the bevel? Any reccomendations on the chipping? So I have one vote each way on the accent band? Any other voters.

Hi Zeke. I think 1/4" in 12" isn't much for a backsplash. I'd put the cuts up under the counter where it's less visible.
You can use a palm sander for making the bevels. I use a Metabo variable speed polisher & 80 grit silicon carbide sandpaper; very fast.
If you have a saw blade that's approved for granite tile then the chipping should be less than the width of the bevel you're going to take off anyway. Usually not a problem. :)

Edit: I meant to say 'cuts up under the CABINET where it's less visible'. :)
