"Justice cannot condemn a man to death. An official who judges someone a heretic and has him put to death is a murderer. God did not want a justice of death sentences. It is not right to go on a crusade...against Saracens, or against a village like Montsegur that opposed the Church. The preachers of crusades are criminals"
Spoken by one Peter Garcia in Toulouse in 1247.

perception.
The speech was clearly aimed at his constituency. They are not the ones that need to hear is message. Those hereabouts will have heard jongoistic rhetoric a million miles from their daily reality.
It sounded way too much like a justification for a crusade

Jeremy,
Are you trying to allude to something in particular.
As you know I can go through Islamic history and find quotes as well. We are both adept enough to frame things the way we want to present them.
So again, What is your point?

As "leader of the free world", it behooves the resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave to remember that his constituency goes way beyond the republican electorate within the US.
I have yet to meet anyone prepared to admit to not being "free", ergo we are all to some degree, Bush's plebians. We are not restricted to the Conservative Christians who currently draft his versions of "Urbi et Orbi".
