Here's an interesting test to take before you vote in the next election. Are you a Liberal or are you a Conservative? Find out where – and with whom – you really stand.
[25 questions, prolly 2 – 3 minutes max]

I couldn't get past "who do you trust more..." questions, since they didn't have a "none of the above" choice.

:D . Yah bb, that was a near show stopper for me as well. On some of those you just have to wing it.

The trust questions skewed my score. I needed an alternate "none of the above".

Funny thing about Barry he said he would bomb the shit out of em, scared the hell out of folks and Lyndon won. LBJ then proceeded to bomb the shit out of em. :sheep:

Sheep has nothing to do with anything just didn't want her to feel neglected.

20 out of 40. Right down the middle.

Doggie's liberal or conservative one question test.
If you were Osama, who would you vote for?

I rated pretty conservative, no surprise, but had a problem with
the choices given. I would have liked ' none of the above ' on some also!!:crap:

Goldwater....there's a real blast from the past.:) Most of you probably don't remember the campaign from 1964. It was (and is) a very interesting study in American politics. Goldwater (Arizona) had no trouble speaking his mind. A political conservative no doubt, but he had his own ideas about right and wrong on issues. He used the campaign slogan "In your heart, you know he's right," and of course the Democrats turned it against him with "In your guts, you know he's nuts."

In the end of course it didn't really matter. Johnson was still riding the coattails of Kennedy, and the nation wasn't ready for a third president in thirteen months. I don't think anyone could have beaten him.

37. Cannot believe I didn't get a 40. Must be rigged. I struggled greatly with who to trust less IRS or FBI.

18 huh, right in there between Clinton and Powell. Only advice I can give Q8 is, keep an sharp eye out on that guy to your left. And don't get too close to him, ya hear? ;)

Howard, I remember that well (about Goldwater) now that you mentioned it. People I knew anyway supported his stance on most all issues except, they were 'afraid' of what he might do in the way of escalating the war with his hawkish position. Weren't we calling it French Indo-China back in those days?

Hobbit

Yes Mike.....We still called the general area French Indo-China even though the independent states were formed in the middle 1950's.

With all of the political "horse exhaust" floating around it has become an impossibility to understand any candidate's position on any subject. Of course, they plan it that way....

As I age (gracefully ;)), I am becoming more enamored with those candidates who speak their mind. You know who they are. Those who stand up, say what they mean, and don't give much of a rat's ass if you like it or not. Goldwater was one of those...so was Jesse Helms....and there were (and still are) others, some Democrats too. You don't have to agree with them......but by golly you know where they stand!!!

Wallace was another member of that 'speak your own mind, don't give a damn what you think' club too. You might love 'em or hate 'em but at least you knew they were 'their own person'.

Too bad flatfloor wasn't about this afternoon. He could tell us what Teddy Roosevelt was really like. :D

I have always admired T.R........For my money, one of the best we've ever had.

Mike, Howard, as you may or may not know Teddy was a neighbor of mine. Truth be told he was a pain in the ass. He couldn't mount up and ride down to the 7-11 for a six pack without blowing a bugle and yellin chaaaaaarge at the top of his lungs. :D

Howard, you may remember we had a brief discussion about Teddy a while back. I am most definitely a fan.

I took the test twice, first answering as a conservative and then as a liberal. I rated a 39 first, and a 4 second. Can you tell that I thought the "test" was pretty transparent?:D

There are mo' better questions to be put to the public, but the authors (both political operatives) left them out. Maybe it's an indication of the narrowness of the choices that we have today.

For example, I'd like to have seen these questions:

1. Who do you trust to control your currency?

A. Congress, elected by the citizens

B. The banks, through the Federal Reserve?

2. Who should have the power to declare war?

A. The President, because he is the chief executive

B. The Congress, because they represent you.

3. Where should the US have troops stationed?

A. Everywhere, because the threats emanate from everywhere

B. Here, because we can project as much power as we need to defend ourselves.

4. What causes inflation?

A. Too much money chasing too few goods

B. Rising prices, because producers want more of the pie.

5. Gas prices are going up because...?

A: There's a shortage of crude oil

B: Oil traders are bidding up the price of oil

6. The federal deficit means that...?

A. Inflation will rise

B. Nothing. Money is issued according to wealth accrued.

7. The US dollar is backed by...?

A. Nothing, It is worth what someone will give you for it.

B. Gold and silver. Holders of the currency can exchange it for either commodity.

8. We are in Iraq because...?

A. Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, and refused to surrender them

B. Powerful lobbies in the US wanted the US to invade Iraq.
---------------

I could go on for quite a while here, but that's enuff for now. Point made.

I realize that it's fun to take these polls, but at least they could ask some questions that matter. Maybe they'll update their quizzes at a later date, but I ain't holding my breath.
