I haven't taken the time to check out the forum for awhile and was happy to see Mike's message. It feels good to take a minute right now at this busy busy time and hear from old friends. I have been meaning to put my two cents worth in about a "next summer reunion" (and I'd bet you'd somehow find a way to make it, Pat!). I'd like to nominate our own personal, party planner, director girl, Arlene, to organize this event. But I haven't spoken to her directly regarding this. So what do you think? We need someone to focus on this and get it going and she'd be the one!

Just a few words about something that has become very important to me. I have been to Africa twice in the last six months (Kampala, Uganda to be specific). And while there have had truly remarkable experiences working with a couple of orphanages. There are MANY children left behind due to AIDS. An African friend from Kampala and I have started the ball rolling to begin our own home over there. Not an orpanage but a FAMILY HOME with a mom and dad and grandma and grandpa. If anyone is curious let me know and I'll keep you posted.

Along with Mike I'm wishing each of you and yours many Christmas Blessings. Susan

Good to see you here, Susan,

There is nothing I'd like better than to get together with a bunch of folks this summer, but it would be really tough. I've gotten myself bogged down in the very mundane business of making a living. Committments into April right now, and then there is a waiting list.

Additionally, I wanted to send one more "solicitation" to everyone on the original list that I have. I had a one-page letter drafted, and then the events of September 11 took place. Somehow it just didn't seem like the time to send the letter, and it still doesn't. Things are a bit topsy-turvy right now.

I agree that Arlene is the one. She was the organizer at Rosehill, and some things don't change. Where are you, Arlene?

Can we plan on the summer of 2003, though? As I mentioned to Bill F. recently, I think we'll all still be around then. (I'm hoping, anyway :))

On the African thing, Susan, please feel free to promote it right here. As a matter of fact, I'll post a notice on the main pages of this site if you think it might help. Shoot me an email with the particulars, and I'll make an issue of it. (I'm good at raising issues -- make a nuisance of myself sometimes.)

I think 2003 would be just fine...give everyone a long time to get their plans in order. On the Africa thing...I am going again in January, our Foundation is going to be announced next week in San Francisco and so when I return in January I will have lots of info and will take you up on promoting and getting our ideas out. Thanks, Pat. Susan

It pleases me to see folks concerned about the plight of Africa. Good luck with the home.
