We used Aqua Mix 15 Gold to seal our grout on our new floor, the grout color is very light (as in snow white!!). A lot lighter than the color chart & than we expected when we picked it out. It seems to absorb dirt and is hard to clean off without scrubbing with a mild mixture of clorox. (We have a 4 legged housemate.) My question is, can we use TYW Grout Stain & Seal to darken our grout since we already used a sealer?
Thanks for any advice or info!!

Tim our chemist will be along i am sure. you would need to strip the sealer i believe before proceeding with staining. try posting this in the tile restoration forum, better yet, i'll copy it to that forum for you :)

I guess what we're trying to say is we expected the sealer to create more of a "barrier" on the grout, i.e. as polyeurathane is to a wood floor . Is there a product that will do this???
Thanks again.

Hi Berlyn, :)
Aquamix makes a topical "colorant" for grout. That may be your best bet. I don't think our stain will do you a lot of good in this case.
Sanded grout is hard to clean whether it's sealed or not. Aquamix Sealer's Choice, like our own Stone Armor, goes beneath the surface and sets up a barrier there. It does not change the surface texture (sand paper?) of the grout.

Hi Berlyn :)
I agree with John B.
Aqua Mix Grout Colorant is a topical coating. It bonds to surfaces very well. Your sealed joint will not allow a stain to penetrate, so it will not get a good bite on the grout. It is very difficult to remove a good impregnator, like Sealers Choice. Nearly impossible, in fact.
The colorant should fix you right up. ;)

Do all know of a TYW and Stone Armour dealer near me or is it available on-line only?? We are about 1 1/2 hrs south of Houston. Would not mind an excuse to go to Houston!!
Thanks all

Hi,
The products are not available off-line in this area. We are only just starting to set up distributors. I think right now we have Ohio and Wake Island. :D
Where ya located?
